Introducing THE DAILY ZIG
A hot new project that will make Brian Thompson and me extremely wealthy.
Hi.
The last thing you need is a new podcast. And the last thing I need is a cockamamie new project. And yet, here we are.
Brian Thompson, the highly respected and not-assassinated investigative journalist behind Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald’s, and I, your friend Jordan, have launched an endeavor that will bring meaning to your days. It is called The Daily Zig.
The central premise is this: Brian is too busy to read Ziggy, so he needs me to summarize each day’s strip. You can relate.
Here is the logo:
You can listen to The Daily Zig at Spotify here:
You can listen to The Daily Zig at Apple here:
I have a hunch you can listen on other platforms, too, but that’s Brian’s department. We’ll have more on that later.
We are also aware that the audio in this first episode could be a little better. Brian sounds good and I sound way too treble-y. We’re gonna figure that out. (If you have any suggestions, please email thedailyzigpodcast@gmail.com. That address is not a joke.)
Listen to The Daily Zig. This is only the first episode!!!
While French Canadians will take Parisian French dubs over Québécois, they are generally not happy about it. For example, The Simpsons may be losing a Québécois dub and they are really, really not happy about it. Dépanneur over supérette and "tabarnak, Homer!" over "mange mon short, Homer!"
Looking forward to more of these!
Doonesbury does still exist, though it has been a Sunday-only affair (that started when Trudeau worked on Alpha House, the Amazon TV series with John Goodman, but has continued long after that show ended). They run reruns during the week (currently from the early 00s, I think), and new strips on Sundays.
And you should check out (or cover in December?) the Emmy-winning animated special “Ziggy’s Gift,” which is as directed by Richard Williams, the animation director of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, among other things (like the title sequence of What’s New Pussycat?).
